John Farnham’s son Robert shares an emotional update on his father’s recovery from 12-hour surgery for throat cancer
The son of Australian music icon John Farnham has shared an emotional update on his father’s recovery from cancer surgery.
Speaking to Sunrise on Monday morning, John’s son Robert Farnham said his father was “doing fantastic” after a 12-hour operation for throat cancer.
“The other day he was walking around with his cane and doing a little dance, which was pretty awesome,” Robert said.
“He walks his dog a lot, so he’s very happy.”
“He’s doing really well, he’s super positive,” he told Sunrise.

Mr. Farnham endured a very personal battle with cancer.
The 73-year-old was hospitalized earlier this year after developing a chest infection following surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in his mouth.
Robert also revealed that his father has yet to watch the biopic, adding that he doesn’t even read reviews about himself.

“He’s not one to watch himself on TV or even read reviews — he’s just not like that. But we’ll make sure he looks at it,’ he said.
“He’s doing really well, he’s super positive.
“Cancer is a terrible, terrible thing, and it’s his time to walk that path, but he’s cancer-free and he’s doing very, very well.”
