John Daly reacts to Donald Trump’s election victory as he responds to ‘reeling’ celebs
Golf legend John Daly has celebrated the outcome of Tuesday’s US presidential election, claiming ‘Daddy Trump’ is the right person to lead America.
Donald Trump sealed a triumphant return to the White House this week, sweeping aside Vice President Kamala Harris in a nightmare for the Democratic party.
While many celebrities are distraught over the results – some even threatening to flee the country – Daly, who was left devastated by Hurricane Helene, welcomed the new US president-elect with open arms.
The 58-year-old professional golfer, who has been a staunch supporter of Trump, claimed the nation needed his leadership, citing the “miracles” he performed during his first term.
“Our country needs Papa Trump, and what he did… [when] he became president, our 45th… What he did for four years was a miracle,” Daly said Friday on Fox & Friends.

“He got us out of a lot of things. All he wants is to protect our country. It’s like we want to protect our children and our family. Papa Trump wants to protect America, and he’s going to do it again.”
Trump was declared the winner of the 2024 election early Wednesday morning and had claimed 295 electoral votes as of Friday after capturing swing states that had already been declared, including Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia and North Carolina.
The 78-year-old also led Harris by 4 million votes in the popular vote as of Friday afternoon.
Daly attributed Trump’s overwhelming success to his America-first policies, including his stance on immigration.
He also responded to celebrities and sports stars, such as Cardi B, Cher and LeBron James, who were described by Fox & Friends hosts as “shaky” about the results.
“It goes back to protecting our family,” Daly added. ‘You have to protect our borders. You have to protect American citizens. You have to protect the family before you can protect anyone else, and that’s what “Daddy” wants to do.
‘What’s going on [with] the… Venezuelan gangs in Colorado taking over apartments and people and immigrants taking over hotels and all that… you have to protect the family, and that is America.”
“Protect them first, and then we can worry about… a lot of other things outside the United States,” he continued.
The two-time major winner has known Trump since the 1990s and has played golf with him

“But Papa Trump is all about America and his common sense to protect those who live in our country, and he’s just a great human being. The whole family is wonderful. All they want is to protect us.”
Daly, a former PGA Tour fanatic who now plays primarily on the senior tour, has known the former president for more than three decades and even described him as a “great friend” in a 2017 Instagram post.
Just last December, Daly boldly declared to Tucker Carlson that he and the majority of his fellow professionals wanted Trump to regain power in the White House.
Trump, who is known as an avid golf fan and owns several golf courses, was recently a prominent figure at LIV golf tournaments, where he was warmly welcomed by the likes of Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau.
He also boldly and bizarrely claimed that some of the biggest international conflicts of recent years would have been avoided had the 45th president secured a second term in November 2020, citing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 and most recently the ongoing Israeli invasion. -Hamas war in October 2023.
“I’ll support him until I die,” Daly said. ‘He’s one of the greatest people I’ve ever met. The family is wonderful. Once you get to know them, they are just good-hearted people. He only wants to help Americans and protect our country.
“I don’t think Putin would have invaded Ukraine and I don’t think Hamas would have attacked Israel the way they did if Trump was in power.”
Daly, who won five times on the PGA Tour, revealed that Trump had predicted his own presidency in the 1990s during a conversation with the professional golfer at a pro-am.
