John Daly is known for his fast-paced lifestyle, but his appearance on Bryson DeChambeau’s YouTube channel ‘Break 50’ has caused a stir among his fans.
The 58-year-old said he had been drinking since 9 a.m. on the day of the shooting and told DeChambeau he was on his 20th drink of the day when he opened a can on the golf course.
Daly was barefoot all the time and was a chain smoker, a habit for which he was already known.
But he also drank his own brand of liquor all the time, John Daly ‘Good Boy’ vodka, which is labelled on the can as having an alcohol content of 4.5%.
“How many Good Boys do you have today?” DeChambeau asks Daly at the beginning of the nearly hour-long video.

Daly also chain-smoked during the show, a habit he’s already known for
“Oh, I started drinking at nine this morning,” Daly says. “Maybe the 20th. I’ve calmed down a little bit, I’ve calmed down a little bit. This is a big day, I’m with my son and we’re going to make it to 50.”
Daly also showed DeChambeau that he has a built-in refrigerator in his golf cart so he can store his drinks while driving around the course.
On Reddit, Daly’s admission that he had been drinking caused a stir, with one fan saying: ‘Super high quality golf, but it was sad to watch.’
“He said he started drinking at 9 in the morning and he had already had 20 drinks… John is incredible to watch, but I wouldn’t want to be in the situation he’s in right now.”
Another said: ‘Dude is 58 and looks like he’s pushing 70. Maybe he’s just one of those guys with a super bouncy body, but man does he put a lot of miles on it.’
Fans also said DeChambeau was uncomfortable during the footage, but the US Open champion emphasized his interview with Daly after the footage was released.
“This episode was absolute mayhem,” DeChambeau wrote when he posted about it on X, alongside an emoji of himself crying from laughter. He also commented under the YouTube video itself, “What an episode, John Daly is an absolute legend.”
Daly in turn shared the video with the caption on X: ‘Break 50? Let’s break the internet.’

But Daly’s comments about drinking raised concerns among some of his fans on social media
Daly has never made a secret of how bad his diet is.
“Rich Beam calls me ‘camel’ because I never drink water. I drink Diet Coke, I like ice, which to me is water, so I get enough water in my Diet Coke,” Daly said in a 2016 interview with Graham Bensinger.
“I don’t drink water. I hate water. I can’t stand to drink water. I used to drink 12-20 diet colas a day, I went to McDonald’s three or four times a day. To me, they always had the best soda.
‘Burger King, McDonald’s, Taco Bell, I love them. I used to be able to eat two Big Macs, two or three cheeseburgers, chocolate milk, and a regular Coke, and it was pretty easy.
‘My 17th birthday, I was a kicker for the soccer team. I got 17 tacos and I was still hungry and then I got a couple burritos.
“I don’t eat a lot of fast food anymore. Burger King has the best burgers, McDonald’s has the best fries. I go to Burger King, get the BK, and I take the meat out and eat it. I have a hard time with bread. Sometimes I can eat bread, sometimes I can’t.
“I don’t eat beans, spinach, broccoli, any of that stuff. When I was young, my dad would force-feed it to me and I would throw it up.”
In September 2020, Daly was diagnosed with bladder cancer. He later said the cancer was benign, but that he would have to see his doctor regularly for the next five years.
