He has gone through an ordeal to rid his body of cancer.

Radio titan John Blackman (pictured) has broken his silence on the massive 12-hour operation to remove a cancerous growth in his mouth and jaw.
However, he was in good hands, being led by the same surgeon as singer John Farnham during his major procedure in August last year.
Blackman spoke about his condition to hosts Sam Newman and Don Scott at the you can’t be serious this week’s podcast.
He also compared his surgery to that of Farnham, who underwent an 11 1/2-hour surgery to remove a tumor from his mouth after his family revealed he had been diagnosed with cancer six months ago.
“I don’t think his was as radical as mine because they removed my entire lower jaw along with my teeth,” he said.

In August, days after Farnham’s operation, Blackman said 7News that hitmaker You’re the Voice’s recovery won’t be easy.
“Hopefully John will get through this with as little heartbreak as possible, and he’ll need all the support he can get,” the Hey Hey It’s Saturday star said.
“I know your family is very loving and everyone will rally around you,” he added.
Blackman also said he cried after learning about his old friend’s diagnosis.

Blackman, from Hey Hey It’s Saturday, was diagnosed with a severe case of skin cancer known as basal cell carcinoma in August 2018.
The cancer was discovered on a routine trip to his doctor to see if he had an inflamed pimple, prompting many operations to follow.
More recently, Blackman’s mandible was replaced with a part of the femur.
Blackman, from Hey Hey It’s Saturday, was diagnosed with a severe case of skin cancer known as basal cell carcinoma in August 2018.
“I had a little pimple under the skin, you scratch it and it turned out to be a BCC,” he said.
“They said it was really aggressive and it was about to eat the rest of my face and eventually get to my brain and it would be whole wheat bread.”
It revealed that another growth had sprouted ‘in a crater’, as a result of one of the removal procedures, and began to move towards his brain.
No matter what ordeal he’s been through, Blackman still feels lucky to be alive.
“Adversity, no matter how important or smart you think you are, everyone has some kind of adversity in their life,” he said.
