New details about Joey Lawrence’s alleged affair with his former co-star have emerged, just days after his ex-wife Samantha Cope filed for divorce.
A source described as “close to the former couple” claimed on Friday that they split after Lawrence, 48, began a romantic relationship with his Socked In For Christmas co-star Melina Alves, 40, according to People.
The former Blossom star is said to have ‘loved’ the actress and writer in the same way he had previously ‘loved’ his wife Samantha.
Their comments echoed statements made by Alves’ estranged husband, who alleged in his own divorce papers β filed in late July β that she and Lawrence slept together earlier this year, according to court documents obtained by TMZ on thursday.

According to the new source, Lawrence and Alves met on the set of his upcoming Christmas film Socked In For Christmas, “where she was a producer.”
Alves is listed as an executive producer on the film, as well as the sole screenwriter and as an actor playing the character of Addy, according to her IMDb page.
βThen he love bombed her, just like he love bombed Samantha,β the source claimed.
According to them, Lawrence was not deterred, even after the alleged affair came to light.
βHe continued dating Melina even after Samantha found out and confronted him,β the source claimed.
They add that Cope, 37, “wanted to see a therapist,” and while Lawrence was willing to go with her, he allegedly “misled their therapist” during the sessions.
The insider also claimed that Lawrence would be so brazen as to “get ready for dates with Melina while Sam watched and cried her eyes out.”
Cope filed for divorce from Lawrence on Wednesday, setting their separation date for June 7, 2024.
Lawrence was previously accused of adultery in divorce papers filed in New Jersey by Alves’ estranged husband Edward Rider.
Per TMZRider claimed in the documents β which were filed in late July β that he learned in late March that Joey and Melina had allegedly slept together.
Joey and Melina are accused of having an affair in California after starring together in Socked In For Christmas.

According to her IMDB page, Melina is a Brazilian-born producer, actress, and writer who works in Los Angeles, California.
She previously worked as a flight attendant and speaks fluent Portuguese, English and Spanish.
Lawrence met Cope on the set of a Lifetime movie and became engaged to her in August 2021, a year after she split from second wife Chandie Yawn-Nelson.
This comes after Samantha posted a cryptic message of loss just days after the couple quietly split.
On June 11, she took on Instagram to share an emotional quote accompanying a series of photos of Dylan, their 19-month-old daughter.

In the court documents, per TMZCope filed for full custody of Dylan, noting that she would allow her daughter to spend two nights a week with her father when she turns 3 in January 2026.
According to the site, Cope said that neither she nor the Melissa & Joey actor should receive spousal support.
Cope told the court she will not allow Lawrence extended visits with the child, the outlet reported, until Dylan “is of age and can consent to such visits.”
According to the newspaper, Cope asked in her application for permission for any non-family members her daughter might be with while she is with Lawrence.
Lawrence was previously married to Yawn-Nelson (from 2005 until their divorce in 2020, which was finalized in 2021) and to Michelle Vella (from 2002 to 2005).
Lawrence is also father to daughters Charleston, 18, and Liberty, 14, with Yawn-Nelson.
Lawrence and Cope first met in 2020 while working on the Lifetime film My Husband’s Secret Brother.
