Joey Essex’s secret role in Big Brother has been revealed after it was teased that the reality show veteran would appear in the new series.
The former TOWIE star, 34, has just finished filming the latest summer series of Love Island and will now appear in Sunday night’s episode of Big Brother: Late & Live ahead of the live launch.
When news broke that Joey would be playing a secret role in the new series of the hit ITV2 show, fans were left furious as they were fed up with him appearing on their TV screens.
However, it has now been revealed that the reality star will only appear in a video advert for the series, alongside Selling Sunset’s Chelsea Lazkani.
The clip shows Chelsea touring the iconic Big Brother house with Joey in an attempt to sell him the property.

When news broke that Joey would be playing a secret role in the new series of the hit ITV2 show, fans were left furious as they were fed up with him appearing on their TV screens.
As he shows him around, Joey says, “Oh, it’s beautiful, it’s beautiful. It’s really very understated. What does subdued mean again?’
As he looks around the kitchen, he notes that he has ‘done MasterChef twice’, before visiting the lavish bedroom where the housemates will sleep.
Chelsea and Joey cook up a storm together, diving into the king-sized bed and testing the firmness of the mattress, as Joey says, “You don’t want to bounce too much.”
Chelsea jokes back, “Why would you bounce up and down?” as Joey flirtatiously replies, “I don’t know if you’re telling me.”
Chelsea turns up the heat and then admits, “You know, Joey, you’re the first client I ever jumped into bed with.”
The pair then head to the bathroom, where the agent reveals that the showers are fully equipped with microphones so the housemates can hear their every move.
As he hops into the shower, Joey wants to make sure he’s at least blocked from view from the chest down, saying, “When I’m showering, you can see me now, but this bit can you see anything? For example, can’t you see anything?’
As Chelsea bursts out laughing and refuses to answer, Joey asks, “Do you see it or not?” Where are you going? It can’t be transparent!’

Reacting to the video, fans expressed relief at discovering that Joey was only in the Big Brother house briefly for a promo.
They wrote, “Oh thank god it was just for a promo. I was afraid Joey would be a roommate there for a while!’
“Thank God it’s just an advertisement; Glad he was for a promo instead of being one of the housemates!’
The mirror had previously reported that Joey would star in the show, but not as a contestant, with his role ‘shrouded in secrecy’.
A source told the publication: ‘Joey will definitely appear in the new series, although he won’t be a contestant.
“As a reality TV veteran, he is the perfect person to present to the housemates. He knows exactly what they will feel, so he will be a real asset to the series.
‘His full involvement is shrouded in secrecy, but he made such brilliant television on Love Island that ITV bosses are happy he’s on board.’

They took to social media to express, “This better not be true; Enough! Can I watch a show without it popping up!!?’
‘I hope this is fake. He can’t continue to sell Sunset and claim to buy a $5 million house and then go on Love Island AND BB; This will ruin the series’.
‘Didn’t he literally do the exact same thing on Love Island a few weeks ago?!? “I don’t want to hate on the guy, but I think apart from this show and MAFSUK, he’s done all the other reality shows.”
After emerging from the Love Island villa this summer, Joey declared he would be ‘taking a big break’ from reality TV for the foreseeable future.
Appearing on This Morning with then partner Jessy Potts, he said: ‘I feel like I’ve done every reality show possible – I don’t think I’d really want to do Strictly. I’m taking a break and I have some opportunities in America.’
