Joey Essex confidently skates on the ice dance floor just one day after suffering an injury

Joey Essex surprises fans by confidently skating across the ice dance floor with partner Vanessa Bauer, just one day after sustaining a nasty injury.

Joey Essex left fans in shock when he appeared on Dancing On Ice on Sunday night, after hinting that he may have to sit out this week.

The former TOWIE star suffered a nasty injury just a day earlier, sharing a snapshot of his bandaged leg on Instagram as he admitted to having “seen better days”.

But in an impressively quick recovery, she confidently skated on the ice with her partner Vanessa Bauer as the show’s Movie Week kicked off.

And this week, it’s not just the routine that they have to nail down, as the stars have also set themselves a Judges’ Challenge this week.

They’ll need to complete a two-foot freestyle jump off the ice during the routine, and the panel will ask them to “get creative.”

Joey Essex surprised fans Sunday night by confidently skating the Dancing On Ice rink with his partner Vanessa Bauer, just one day after suffering a nasty injury.

All the contestants were introduced at the start of the show, with Joey flashing a big smile and waving to the audience as he skated across the ice.

Showing that she was in shape, the reality star even did a little hop while holding onto Vanessa’s hips.

First to step on the ice was The Vivienne, who played Mary Poppins for the performance with her partner Colin Grafton.

And with an impressive 26 points out of 40, all four judges gave a high score of nine.

Oti shared: ‘You look beautiful, you skated beautiful, I love you!’, while Shirley repeated: ‘I loved it and I wish you would do it again.’

Next up was Darren Harriett and his partner Tippy Packard, who earned 28.5 out of 40 points for their Top Gun-inspired performance in Kenny Loggins’ Danger Zone.

Ashley Banjo was the most generous of the panel, rating the TV personality 7.5 out of 10, while the other three judges offered a respectable 7 each.

Noting that she attempted the Judges’ Challenge but didn’t quite make it, Shirley explained, “The jump was quite small.”

While constructive criticism was given, Ashley called the performance “the cleanest yet” from Darren, who found himself in the bottom two last week.
