Joel Embiid agrees new $193MILLION deal with the 76ers as former MVP extends stay in Philadelphia for three more years
Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has signed a new three-year contract extension with the team worth $193 million.
Embiid announced Friday that he has signed a lucrative contract extension with the Sixers, which reportedly includes a player option for 2028-29.
“Philadelphia is my home. I want to spend the rest of my career here,” the 30-year-old wrote on Instagram alongside photos of himself signing the deal alongside his wife Anne de Paula, 4-year-old son Arthur and Sixers managing partner Josh Harris.
“I love this community and everything you have given me and my family. There is still much work to be done.
“You guys deserve a championship and I think we’ve only just begun!”

Embiid, one of the most dominant centers in modern NBA history and the 2023 MVP, will decline his $59 million player option for the 2026-27 season and instead sign his new three-year extension, which will pay $69 million in the final year.
That contract guarantees him a staggering $300 million through the 2028-29 season, meaning his career earnings will rise to $514.8 million — the fourth-highest amount in NBA history, behind LeBron James, Steph Curry and Paul George.
In addition to remaining the face of his franchise, Embiid also enjoyed success with Team USA at the Olympic Games last summer.
Along with a host of other superstars, the Cameroonian-American star helped the U.S. defeat host France in the gold medal game last summer. In his final 11-minute game, he recorded four points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal.
