He will be the host of the glitzy awards ceremony.
But Joel Dommett has revealed that because his “heavily pregnant” wife Hannah Cooper is about to give birth to their first child, he plans to skip the National Television Awards after-party on Tuesday night.
The comedian, who previously revealed he would retire from performing if his wife went into labor, joked that he would be having his own post-awards party with someone who “can’t move easily.”
It comes as fans count down the hours until Joel takes the stage for the 2023 NTAs, with the best and brightest of British TV competing for the coveted honour.
On the Capital Breakfast Show with Roman Kemp, Joel also described his wife Hannah’s hilarious “morning routine” in which he collects colostrum milk, known as “liquid gold,” into a syringe.
Revelation: Joel Dommett has revealed that because his ‘heavily pregnant’ wife Hannah Cooper is due to go into labor at any time, he plans to skip the National Television Awards after party
Joel said, “Well, it’s probably something you don’t want to get into in the morning.
“But there’s something, this amazing thing called colostrum, that’s like something that happens to women when they’re pregnant. And the first milk and they call it liquid gold.
And it is and it is literally golden. Honestly, and I… I… I, Joel Dommett, I have to catch that in a little squeeze syringe in the morning.
‘Honestly… I just tell her every time, ‘I really want to taste this’. It’s very nutritious. And so I just do that every morning. I collect it… It’s my new favorite thing. I love it!’
He explained that he had to keep the syringes in the freezer and added, ‘Yes, yes. Because it is very nutritious. It’s really really good stuff.
‘And if you like, the gathering is called ‘harvesting’. And so I love it because every morning I think, “Ready to harvest, woman?”
And we reap. It changed this whole thing… I know people say that when you have a child, it changes your life. It has already changed my life!’
When asked if he has plans for the NTAs after party, Joel told Roman, “Well, my wife is so heavily pregnant I don’t think I’m going.
“I think I’m going to have an after party with some kind of woman who can’t move easily.”
Race against the clock! The comedian previously revealed that he would pull out of his hosting gig if his wife went into labour

Joel also dropped by Radio X to appear on The Chris Moyles Show, admitting that even though he’s hosting the awards for a third time, he still suffers from nerves.
He said, “I get nervous like anyone would, I just try not to think about it, just think about what I have to do, and what I have to do is read this autocue.”
‘No respect for real presenters, I know it’s more than that, I really try to boil it down to that, because then I don’t get overwhelmed by the fact that everyone who is better at it is watching me (all laugh). .. it’s just read and enjoy. If you don’t enjoy it, the work becomes so much more difficult.’
“What’s really hard is that (I’m) a fan of Radio X, Ricky Gervais, XFM legend, he did the Golden Globes in such a way that it changed the way people watch awards shows and that’s what everyone assumes are going to do now.
“When I say I’m going to do the NTA people, they’re like, ‘Ohhh, are you going all out for Ricky Gervais?’, and that’s amazing what he’s doing and I think it’s absolutely brilliant, but it’s a completely different scenario for me.’
