Joel Dommett has revealed that he would once cry on the phone to wife Hannah Cooper after gaffe-filled hosting gigs, and sometimes he still does.
The TV personality, 37, admitted to being “very self-critical” and “too strict on myself,” while speaking candidly about his struggles with impostor syndrome and self-doubt.

“I’d feel so nervous and mess it up!” Joel Dommett has revealed he would cry to wife Hannah Cooper after blunder-filled hosting gigs, and sometimes still does
He told The sun: “I would call Hannah after a show, crying on the phone, thinking I was so bad at it. I would mess up the autocue and feel so nervous.
“I would go back to my hotel room and put an audiobook on subtitles and read it out loud for hours trying to improve.
“It didn’t really make a difference because it’s a different kind of pressure when you’re on live TV, but I’ve learned to love it.”
Despite his self-judgmental nature, Joel has hosted juggernaut shows including I’m a Celebrity: Extra Camp, The Masked Singer, and the NTAs.

Earlier this year, Joel shared how he went to a strip club with Hannah.
The pair visited the racy location together for their podcast Never Have I Ever and recounted the experience on an episode of Loose Women in April.
“We’d never done that before,” Joel said, as Hannah intervened to say, “Joel had been before, may I say, we’d never done it together.”
Joel laughed and agreed to add, “Not much! They didn’t know me at the door!’

He went on to explain: ‘We went to Magic Mike first to balance things out, went to the strip club together – it was a very interesting evening’.
When asked by Denise Welch if she liked the experience, Hannah replied, “It was great. I’m a girly girl so I wanted to talk and I asked her a lot about her lockdown and if she had a boyfriend.
“Then I said, ‘Go on girl! You look great!’ and Joel was like, “Yay!”‘
When asked if every couple should go to a strip club together, Joel replied, “I think couples should be able to communicate with each other and I think that’s something we have.

“We’ve always enjoyed being honest and saying everything. It’s an interesting conversation to have.’
The couple also revealed that they had their own bathrooms, which Joel said was the key to their marriage.
He said, “It’s just been the foundation of our relationship. It’s so good.
“It just means that all my beard trimming won’t get in the way. They come everywhere. It’s in my bathroom, it’s my mess. After our morning coffee we go our separate ways.’
The couple tied the knot in Mykonos in 2019 at a ceremony performed by Love Island’s Iain Stirling.
Discussing the wedding with OKAY! in February 2020, Joel said, “It was really so much fun.
“I was completely willing to say it was the best day of my life and pretend it was – because I’ve been lucky enough to do Bake Off and I’ve had these amazing experiences in my life – but it really was the the best day of my life!
‘We were there with 28 people. Some people have weddings where the half day people say hello. I wanted our closest friends and family to have a great time.”
