Yikes: Late last month, Joel insisted he’d been single for six years, despite Coco ‘confirming’ their relationship two months earlier
At the end of last month, Joel insisted that despite this, he had been single for six years Coco ‘confirmed’ their relationship two months earlier.
The DJ also revealed that he fears he could ‘miss out’ on the chance to have a family due to his busy work schedule.
In an interview with UnfilteredJoel detailed the downsides of his career and revealed that he finds it ‘difficult’ to juggle a relationship and prefers not to have the ‘distractions’.
He said, ‘Yes, that (being in a relationship) is difficult. That is absolutely the greatest sacrifice. I mean, I’ve been single for six years now and there’s no room in my life for a relationship.
‘I don’t feel like I’m missing anything. I’m so dedicated to this career and what I do that I feel like I don’t need it. I don’t feel like I’m missing out.
‘I’m happy with what I do, and I hardly want any distractions. Doing what I want to do requires so much attention that I don’t want anything to get in the way.
“I know I need that tunnel vision, that laser focus, to make this happen.”
He added, “I mean, the thing is, a relationship takes work. I’ve been there before and my life is very selfish, so I’m always on the go.
Summer romance: Coco, who shot to fame on Love Island last year, confirmed her relationship with Joel in August after the pair spent a romantic week together in Ibiza
‘I’m in a different country almost every day. I’m on a flight almost every day and my time is consumed by the music I’m making and the sets I’m preparing. How could I ever spend more time giving love to someone?’
When asked about his future and how he feels about starting a family, Joel said, “My mom always says, ‘Joel, when are you going to settle down?’, I’m like, ‘How am I going to do that?’ I’m going on tour.”
‘It creeps through my mind. Every now and then I obviously want to start a family. Everyone does. Sure I will. But at the same time, I know I have to stay so focused on what I’m doing, and it’s not something I can explore right now.
‘I have to, there are so many more goals and things I want to achieve in this career that I don’t have room for them.
“But right now it’s absolutely 100 percent focus on what I’m doing and in the future, who knows what’s going to happen.”
In August, Coco confirmed her romance with Joel after months of secretly dating, posting two photos with Joel on Instagram after the couple spent a romantic week together in Ibiza.
A source told MailOnline at the time: ‘Coco and Joel have been dating since the beginning of this year. They have so much in common: they are both happy people and love music, fitness and travelling.’
