Joe Sugg proudly shares sweet post for his ‘inspirational’ girlfriend Dianne Buswell as she wins Strictly Come Dancing for the first time with Chris McCausland

Joe Sugg has shared a sweet, gushing message to celebrate his girlfriend Dianne Buswell and her Strictly partner Chris McCausland after they emerged victorious on the BBC show on Saturday.

The professional dancer, 34, and Chris, 47, were crowned 2024 champions after the comedian made history as the show’s first-ever blind contestant and winner.

Chris sent fellow finalists Tasha Ghouri, JB Gill and Sarah Hadland to the post in the ‘best ever’ final, with his cheeky humor and inspiring story helping save the show after a year of scandal.

And now Joe, who first met Dianne on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, has proudly shared a photo gallery praising the dancer for her hard work and ‘determination’.

Joe wrote: ‘There are no words to describe how proud I am of you both @diannebuswell @chrismccauslandcomedy, Last night was an absolute movie.

“You made us laugh, you made us cry and you proved to the world that you are good enough and can achieve everything the doubters say you can’t and more.

“Chris, thank you for making this year so special for Dianne and I couldn’t be happier that you are the partner she finally lifted the glitter ball with.

‘Dot, it’s been a winding road full of ups and downs for seven years, but you showed sheer determination and dedication and you got there in the best way possible and everyone got to see how great you are and what an incredible teacher who you are this year.

“You both are inspirations and hold the hearts of the nations from everyone, thank you.”

In the photo series, Dianne was all smiles as she proudly held the Glitterball trophy while Chris and Joe stood either side of her.

Joe also decorated the couple’s lavish home with a “2024 Winner” banner hanging in their hallway with silver balloons scattered across the floor.

Dianne couldn’t contain her smile as she held up her own mini trophy while wearing a stunning black leather mini dress and boots.

It is the first time Dianne has won Strictly after reaching the final last year with partner EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier, 20, but losing to Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola.

Dianne previously lost the win in 2018 when she teamed up with her now boyfriend Joe as Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton lifted the Glitterball.

This year’s highest grossing final ever saw all the couples perform three dances each for the judges before presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman announced Chris as the winner of the coveted Glitterball trophy.

After Chris won, he burst into tears as he was hugged by his fellow celebrities before triumphantly throwing Dianne over his shoulder as the crowd went wild.

When asked by Tess and Claudia how the moment felt, Chris said: ‘It’s amazing, I don’t know what to say. I honestly thought I was going to date for the first week or two and I know no one went out the first week, but I still thought I could do it.

‘We just endured and endured and [Dianne] has gotten so much out of me and she deserves that [the trophy] so much,” as he then gushed over her “positivity” and “faith.”

He then joked, “Unless she changes her number, she’s stuck with me.” This is for [Dianne] and everyone out there, it just goes to show that with the opportunity and support, anything is possible!’.

Chris achieved his first perfect score of 40 points for a waltz to You’ll Never Walk Alone by Gerry and the Pacemakers, which was his final dance of the series and left the judges and viewers in tears.

His second routine was a mash-up of dance styles to New Radicals’ You Get What You Give and he recreated his viral ‘blackout’ moment for the first dance.

Chris and Dianne also danced to their own tune – Instant Karma! (We All Shine On) by John Lennon.
