On Saturday night, the new couple was at Cipriani in Manhattan to attend the Children Of Armenia Fund's 20th anniversary gala.
That evening, Joe, an eighth Armenian on his mother's side, received the nonprofit's Humanitarian Award.
Joe's roots in Armenia came to light early this year when he appeared on the PBS show Finding Your Roots and delved into the life story of his great-grandmother who survived the Armenian Genocide.
