Joe Jonas heads out for a swanky dinner at Amazonico after brutal Wetherspoons review

His savage review of British pub chain Wetherspoons set social media ablaze.

And Joe Jonas showed he’s more akin to fine dining when he headed to upscale Latin American eatery Amazonico with his brother Nick and Priyanka Chopra on Wednesday night.

The singer, who went viral after admitting the budget restaurant was ‘not for him’, was seen arriving at the upscale restaurant, which boasts prices that would make Wetherspoons regulars hesitate.

Joe made a casual figure as he arrived at the restaurant with his famous sibling in tow, while the group enjoyed dinner before heading to a nearby casino.

Priyanka showed off her slim physique in a form-fitting purple dress with a brown faux fur coat as she arrived holding hands with husband Nick.

Offering a range of Latin American dishes, Amazonico certainly keeps up its reputation with its high prices, with a wagyu fillet steak costing an eye-watering £110, without side dishes.

While there are cheaper alternatives, such as a £38 beef rib eye and £30 jerk chicken, Wetherspoons fans can get a similar meal, including a drink, for less than £20.

Meanwhile, bottles of champagne start at £110, cocktails start at £14 and a glass of white wine starts at £12

The outing comes after Joe gave a scathing review of Wetherspoons when asked what he thought of the British pub chain in a new interview.

The Jonas Brothers singer shocked hosts Jamie Theakston and Zoe Hardman when he appeared on Heart Breakfast on Tuesday morning by revealing he had previously visited a branch of the pub.

The subject came up when Joe tried to explain what the American eatery Waffle House was, comparing it to the popular British chain Wetherspoons.

Theakston jumped in and referenced Jonas’ star status, joking, “I’m going to pull you there, you’ve never been in a…[Wetherspoon].’

Jonas, who is married to British actress Sophie Turner, insisted he had been to a Wetherspoons pub before while in the UK.

But when asked what he thought of it, Jonas barely disguised replied, “Um, I liked other places…”

He continued, “Let’s just say it wouldn’t be my first go-to.

“Uhm, yeah, but you know, for us growing up when we were on tour in the States, we were too young to have a pint after the show and kick it with our friends, so we’d go to the only place to go that was open late, which was a Waffle House.

“They serve breakfast items all day and we sat there talking and it became more of a safe place for us, so there are more places like that for everyone in the world.”

Joe is clearly used to spending his hard-earned cash in more sophisticated venues while in London, having been spotted arriving at Scott’s in Mayfair this week.

The father-of-two was spotted with his wife Sophie in the posh tent as they joined his brothers for a delicious dinner ahead of one of their UK gigs.

Many Wetherspoons enjoying some food or drink at Baxter’s Court, an east London pub, on Thursday reacted to Joe’s comments, with one saying: “I don’t know who that is, but if he doesn’t like it, then he doesn’t. “He doesn’t have to go, does he?”

Val Henriques, 52, sat happily in the Lepels, with an empty plate in front of him. The Hackney gas engineer told MailOnline: ‘He has a mouth so he has a right to say it, but I like it here.

“I came today because I was hungry and I know there will be good food and I’ll get a drink. There’s nothing wrong with that.’

Wesley Jason, who works in construction, said it was unfair for someone to criticize the pub chain, given that they are from a different country.

The 32-year-old, who lives in the Hackney area, said: ‘Everyone has a right to say what they think, but I don’t think it’s fair to come over and criticize, especially for a place that is as accessible as this one. .

“It’s a place for everyone — you get families here and it’s affordable. The food is good and you get value for money.’

Another customer, Louise Smith, 42, said he always enjoyed visiting Wetherspoon. Hackney’s Royal Mail employee told MailOnline: ‘It’s great, it’s close and accessible to people. I wouldn’t criticize it.’

Brian Mcdowall, an environmental manager from nearby Bethnal Green, likes the communal atmosphere the pub offers.

The 62-year-old said: ‘I love it here. It’s great for all my friends, we all meet here. It’s perfect, it’s close to the bus and there’s a great atmosphere.

‘There are great people. It’s a real social community place.’

For Mel Gibbons, who brought her family for lunch, the chain is better off without Jonas.

The 54-year-old teaching assistant from Cambridge Heath told MailOnline: ‘I don’t know who that is, but if he doesn’t like it then he doesn’t have to go, does he?’

She added, “It’s good for me and my friends. We come here a lot with the kids. They love it. It’s a way we can eat out and it doesn’t cost a bomb.’

Another happy customer, Jerry Mitchell, 67, who is retired and lives in Hackney, said: ‘What’s not to like? You can have a cheap pint with your friends, bring the family.

‘They’ve got pints here for under £2: where else can you get that? We don’t all have the same money as a singer!’
