Joe Flacco’s fantastic return to the NFL came to an abrupt halt on Saturday, when he threw pick-sixes on consecutive drives to ensure a victory for the Houston Texans.
The Texans defeated the Browns 45–14 at NRG Stadium to eliminate Cleveland from the playoffs and most likely end Flacco’s time as the Browns’ quarterback.
Flacco, who turns 39 on Tuesday, was the Browns’ fourth starting quarterback of the season. Cleveland’s opening week starter, Deshaun Watson, underwent shoulder surgery in November.
PJ Walker and Dorian Thompson-Robinson also started for the Browns this season, backing up Flacco after his resurgent effort.
Flacco’s one year with the Browns came with some ridiculous bonuses. On top of a $370,800 contract already signed when he joined the team, Flacco earned $225,000 by leading Cleveland to three regular-season wins.

Flacco would earn an additional $250,000 with a win over the Texans, doubling his bonus total for each round through the remainder of the postseason, culminating in a $2 million bonus if he leads the Browns to a Super Bowl victory had led.
Flacco will be an unrestricted free agent in March.
Texans CJ Stroud became the youngest starting quarterback to ever win an NFL playoff game with the win.
Stroud went 16-for-21 with 274 passing yards and three touchdowns.
The Texans’ next postseason opponent has yet to be determined.
