Ashley Biden, President Joe Biden's daughter, owes $5,000 in income taxes dating back to 2015, according to a recent tax lien notice obtained by Fox News.

The Pennsylvania Department of Revenue notified Ashley Biden that a tax lien had been placed on her property, the Dec. 1 document shows.

Liens are used by the government to recover money from unpaid taxes. In this case, Biden, 42, owes taxes dating back to January 2015 — when her father was vice president — to Jan. 1, 2021, days before he was sworn in as president.

Ashley Biden is the only daughter of President and First Lady Jill Biden. She started dating Kerin in 2010 when they were introduced by her brother Beau Biden. They were married in 2012 at St. Joseph on the Brandywine, the family church in Wilmington, Del.

She stayed outside the family business and studied social work. She worked for many years as a social worker in Philadelphia. In 2017, she launched Livelihood Collection, an ethical fashion clothing brand.

Her brother Hunter Biden was indicted earlier this month on nine federal charges related to his taxes. Earlier this summer, Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty to tax charges after filing his tax returns late for two years.

Ashley Biden has fallen victim to other legal troubles.

In August 2022, two Florida residents pleaded guilty to a scheme to sell Ashley's diary and other items, stealing her to the conservative group Project Veritas.

Ashley moved out of a friend's home in Delray Beach, Florida, in the spring of 2020, when she kept the diary and other belongings there. The diary contained entries from the time she was undergoing treatment for addiction.

It was during the 2020 presidential campaign. Ashley had not taken on a major public role during the campaign and was living in Florida — where she was in rehab in 2019 — to stay out of the campaign spotlight.
