Joe Biden stunned Wednesday when he referred to Maryland’s first black governor as a “kid.”
Biden, 80, was in the town of Lanham to speak with members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
He referenced newly elected governor Wes Moore, 44, a former college football star, and used a word that is considered a derogatory term for black men.
“You have an incredible new governor in Wes Moore, I tell you,” Biden told union workers.
‘He’s the real deal, and the kid looked like he could still play. He has some weapons on him.

Moore is seen Wednesday at the Lanham event, smiling and laughing despite the term.
The crowd erupted in applause, but it’s not the first time Biden has found himself in hot water for referring to an adult black man as a “child.”
In 2019, Biden told a crowd on the campaign trail that he could work with everyone, even those he disagreed with.
He recounted how he worked with James Eastland, a Mississippi senator and plantation owner, who was an outspoken white supremacist. Eastland resigned as a senator in 1978 and died in 1986, aged 81.
Biden said that Eastland respected him, stating, “He never called me ‘boy,’ he always called me ‘son.'”
Sen. Cory Booker, who is black, chided Biden for minimizing the use of the word “boy” to put down black men.
Booker, on CNN, said it was inappropriate.
“Don’t joke about calling black men ‘boys,'” Booker said.
Biden then called Booker.
Sabrina Singh, a Booker spokeswoman, said after the call: “Cory directly shared what he said publicly, including helping Vice President Biden understand why the word ‘child’ is painful for so many.
“Cory believes that Vice President Biden should take responsibility for what he said and apologize to those who were hurt.”
Biden, in response, snapped: ‘Apologize for what? There is not a racist bone in my body.
On Twitter, musician Benny S, wearing a T-shirt that read “I identify as a non-Bidenarian,” told his 88,000 followers that it was unacceptable.
“Why does Biden get constant approval with his blatant racism and the Democrats…especially the black Democrats just let it slide all the time…” he asked.
I have compiled SO MANY videos of other cases of this that it is ridiculous.
‘Wes Moore, even though he’s a Democrat, is NOT a kid…he’s a…’
Steve Guest, special counsel to Ted Cruz, said: ‘Joe Biden refers to Democrat Wes Moore (Maryland’s first black governor) as a ‘boy.’ IMAGINE if a Republican said this instead of Biden.
In 2021, the president awkwardly referred to Japanese golfer Hideki Matsuyama, who was 29 at the time, as a “kid.”
He told the Japanese prime minister during a press conference: ‘You have a Japanese guy come here and guess what? He won the Masters. He won the Masters. He won the green jacket.
In October, Biden referred to Delaware Sen. Chris Coons, a 59-year-old white man, as a “boy” during a speech on student loan forgiveness.
“And Chris Coons, who has the seat that I used to occupy,” Biden said.
‘The only difference is that he not only has a law degree, he has a theology degree.
The boy can preach.
