Joe Alwyn plays secretive businessman in romance with Margaret Qualley in Stars at Noon trailer

Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Joe Alwyn and Margaret Qualley play lovers who get caught up in a mysterious but dangerous escapade in Nicaragua in the upcoming thriller Stars at Noon.

A new trailer for the film, released Thursday, shows Trish (Qualley), a journalist, meeting Daniel (Alwyn) in a bar before accidentally getting caught up in his risky job.

Trish tries to distance himself from Daniel’s secretive pursuit, but is soon drawn into the danger that surrounds him.’

The trailer opens with Trish and Daniel meeting at a bar, before returning home and embarking on a passionate love affair.

“I’m an American journalist,” Trish tells Daniel during their first meeting. “I came here as a special correspondent. And you?’

“I’m alone here,” Daniel replies.

“We have 45 minutes until the bar closes, long enough to fall in love,” she informs him, carefully holding a cocktail.

They eventually leave the bar together and the trailer shows a brief glimpse of their time behind closed doors.

“Shall we meet again?” asks Daniel. “Again and again,” Trish replies.

Daniel’s secretive life begins to reveal itself to Trish when she goes to the bathroom and finds a gun in his bag.

“I’m here for a good cause,” he tells her at the bar. But Trish doesn’t want to hear about it. “Please don’t go into details,” she says with a smile.

But as she gets to know him better, she becomes intrigued.

After seeing him shaking hands with a sharply dressed man in the street, she asks, “Who is that friend of yours?”

“What I do interests him,” he tells her briefly.

“He’s waiting for you outside the hotel now,” she informs him as a man drives up to the building in a sleek black car.

And their relationship soon begins to frown.

While meeting a man over coffee, Trish is asked about Daniel.

“Your British friend interests me,” he tells her. ‘How long have you known him? How do you know he is who he says he is? I could just snap my fingers, one of those envelopes with $20,000 on your lap.”

As Trish lies naked in Daniel’s arms, she asks, “Did you know the Department of Defense is after you?”

It soon becomes dangerous for Trish too.

“Do you know how many people play your game? A lot of people are involved,” a man tells her.

In a montage of action-packed shots showing the couple trying to flee the area, you hear a man who appears to be Daniel say, “You’re going to kill us both!”

Set for a theatrical release on October 14, 2022, Stars at Noon is based on Denis Johnson’s novel, The Stars at Noon. It will be available for streaming on Hulu on October 28.
