Joe Alwyn never needs to ‘worry about money again’ after cowriting six songs on ex Taylor Swift’s past three albums
Joe Alwyn is still reaping the benefits of his six-year romance with ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift, almost a year after their shock split in early 2023.
Despite their split, which reportedly inspired the superstar’s upcoming album, The Tortured Poets Department, the 33-year-old actor is said to be making millions a year from his songwriting credits on her past three albums.
“Fair or not, it has made him a very wealthy man,” a source said Life and style. “Joe makes so much in royalties and proceeds from (Taylor’s) Eras tour that he never has to worry about money again.”
The outlet also reported that the Conversations with Friends star “has already pocketed approximately $2.3 million from Spotify streams alone.”

He will continually make money from additional streaming and eventual live performances of their songs by Swift.
The insider added that Swift is “furious” that Alwyn is making a fortune from their collaboration.
Alwyn, who wrote under the pseudonym William Bowery, co-wrote six songs with Swift, 34, including Exile and Betty from her 2020 hit album Folklore, which earned him a Grammy.
They also collaborated on the songs Champagne Problems, Evermore and Coney Island on Evermore (2020).
Their last song together, Sweet Nothing, was released on Midnights in 2022.
Last year The Sun reported that ‘Joe will make a fortune from these songs for years to come.’
“Taylor’s albums have sold millions and remain extremely popular on streaming services,” the insider noted. “He will easily make a five-figure sum each year from his contributions. Writing six songs for albums as big as Taylor’s guarantees a healthy income stream for life.’
The couple dated for six years before calling it quits last spring.

Many fans are convinced that Swift’s upcoming album, The Tortured Poets Department, will chronicle the end of their relationship.
Previously, a source close to Alwyn revealed to DailyMail.com that the title of her upcoming record is a thinly veiled comment about her ex.
Insiders said he doesn’t believe she will reveal negative details about him and would be shocked if she wrote about their relationship in her new album.
One source said it would be “shady” if she “dissed” him in any way since he remained so stoically silent about their breakup on his part.
However, he reportedly believes the name of her album is an ‘unmistakable’ reference to the WhatsApp group he shares with his friends Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott – which is called The Tortured Man Club.
“Taylor knocked him for the name of this when they were together,” the source revealed. “She didn’t want people to think it had anything to do with her, so when he spoke out about it, she obviously felt bad about it.”
The insider added, “Joe has no reason to believe she will diss him or their relationship yet.

‘She writes about her past using code and reference points. It could be that she’s thinking about their time together and he’s hoping it’s nothing more.
“If it’s a diss album, that’s dark,” the insider continued.
“He helped her write songs on her last album, so it will be a real shock for him if she talks about their breakup because it’s something he hasn’t talked about at all.”
Another insider told DailyMail.com that Alwyn “hasn’t said a word about Taylor or their split and completely respects her.”
