Jodie Turner-Smith admits to tricky ‘adjustment period’ following split from Joshua Jackson as she reveals there is ‘no manual’ on co-parenting
Jodie Turner-Smith has opened up about co-parenting her daughter Juno, four, with her ex-husband Joshua Jackson.
The once-in-love couple shocked Hollywood when they announced in October 2023 that they were going their separate ways after three years of marriage.
And now the 38-year-old actress, who was honored with the Screen Trailblazer award at the Glamor Woman of the Year Awards on Tuesday night, has revealed that there is no “manual” on co-parenting.
With the cover star of Glamour, she told the publication, “It’s an adjustment period for everyone when they separate because you’re used to being with your child all the time.
‘But no one gives you a manual. Everyone is trying to figure it out.”

She continued, “Every parent has a different life, and especially if the reason you’re splitting up is because you have different lives, it’s only going to be more complicated by how you’re going to co-parent.”
The star is currently in London filming The Agency, an English-language remake of the French spy series Le Bureau des Légendes, but used her two-day break from filming to return to LA to see her daughter.
Juno remains in America to attend school, but her mother admitted it had been difficult being separated from her daughter.
She added: ‘This is going to be the thing I look back on and think, “Wow, I survived that.” This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.’
The Queen and Slim actress cited “irreconcilable differences” in her divorce filings as she attempted to remove herself from the “unhealthy” marriage.
Weeks after Jodie officially filed for divorce, Joshua, 46, was photographed holding hands with Lupita Nyong’o, 41, hours after it was confirmed they were dating.
Speaking about the pictures, Jodie said: ‘He can do whatever he wants. Just be good to Juno and be good to Juno’s mother, because I will always be Juno’s mother.
“It’s really not for me to have an opinion on his journey.”

The star continued, “Every parent has a different life, and especially if the reason you’re splitting up is because you have different lives, the way you choose to co-parent only makes things more complicated.”

Jodie led the winners and was presented with the Trailblazer trophy by friend and James Bond star Naomie Harris at the Glamor Awards on Tuesday.
As she took to the stage, Jodie spoke candidly about her struggles with imposter syndrome, saying the award “wasn’t really about her” but about the opportunity she had been given as an actress to share “love and joy.”
She previously spoke about the end of her marriage to the Dawson’s Creek actor with the Sunday Times style February magazine.
She said, “Sometimes things we really want just don’t work out. And that’s okay. The most important thing is that you choose what is healthiest for you and your family, especially your children. There are so many different moments in our lives where we look at ourselves and say, “Who am I and am I true to that?”
‘If the answer is no, then you need to take action because I think there are visible scars from staying in places that are not good for us. And they don’t just affect us, they affect everyone around us. I don’t think it’s a failure. We clearly had such a beautiful moment together. And now it’s time for a new moment for both of us.
‘And how exciting! The bravest thing in the world is to recognize when something isn’t working and then take action, and I always want to be that kind of example for my daughter. The big takeaway is that this is about as much love and joy as ever. This is just about taking a step forward towards a better life for everyone involved.’
