Joan Rivers’ daughter Melissa, 56, looks somber while out for the first time since losing home in LA fires

Melissa Rivers was spotted for the first time since losing her Pacific Palisades home during the devastating Los Angeles fires.

On Friday, Joan Rivers’ 56-year-old daughter was seen looking somber as she bought a small bouquet of white flowers.

She kept a low profile and wore a brown ribbed sweater, matching suede cap and leggings, while carrying a brown designer bag.

The television host was joined by her fiancé Steve Mitchel, who was shopping at the Brentwood Country market and picked up several bags of items from various stores.

More than 100,000 residents of the City of Angels were forced to flee their homes and 10 died as scattered fires continued to crop up across Southern California. And some A-listers have already lost their multimillion-dollar homes in devastating ways.

Aside from Rivers, Anthony Hopkins, John Goodman, Miles Teller, Billy Crystal, Mandy Moore and Jen Atkin are among those whose homes were destroyed by the inferno.

Rivers’ peaceful outing comes days after her Pacific Palisades residence was reduced to ashes.

On Wednesday, the star opened up to CNN as she reflected on the heartbreaking loss of her home, saying the prosperous city has been “wiped off the map.” She also revealed that she managed to save her late mother’s Emmy before it was lost in the flames.

Joan Rivers – who died in 2014 at the age of 81 – won the 1990 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Host for The Joan Rivers Show.

‘I had a kind of mental checklist. I made sure we got passports, birth certificates, medicine and clothes,” Melissa told the newspaper.

The star recalled that she was “clothes shopping” before she was evacuated from her home in the Palisades. “It started to get to me, we literally just had what was on our backs.

“I grabbed dog food and cat food. Luckily my office was in my house, [I grabbed] whatever was there.”

“In my personal situation, that’s it, that’s the end of everything that belonged to my family and its history,” Rivers said emotionally.

She added, “To be 100% honest, I took my mom’s Emmy, a photo of my dad, and a drawing my mom made of me and my son…”

Melissa then advised: ‘The most important thing is that you have your papers, all your IDs, your passport, and have that ready in one place. Fortunately we are so organised.’

The mother of one continued, “But my heart is so broken, not just for myself, but for everyone who is going through this,” before saying that the city of Pacific Palisades has been “wiped off the map.”

Melissa had notably purchased the Pacific Palisades home nearly four years ago in 2021 for $7.7 million, per Architectural Digest.

The two-story home consisted of five bedrooms and five and a half baths. In the backyard there was a pool, a spa and also an outdoor fireplace.
