Jo O’Meara has revealed she is “devastated” and in a “terrible” amount of pain after recent surgery on her back didn’t work as well as expected.

The S Club 7 singer underwent emergency back surgery last month to remove a disc and as a result had to cancel performances, including Fife Pride.

Jo, 43, said from her bed on Tuesday in an Instagram video that she has to go back for another surgery after a recent MRI and said she feels like she’s “in a really bad place” right now.

“As you can see, I’m back in bed. That’s because the back is playing games again,” she says in a clip.

“The pain was absolutely horrendous and today I got back some MRI scan results that weren’t the result I wanted. I actually have to go back to the hospital for further surgery on my back, which frankly devastates me.’

Jo admitted that her injury was taking its toll on her mental health, saying, “And it makes me feel pretty bad if I’m honest.”

‘I felt very low. The past few days have been very tough, but hopefully with this next surgery I’ll be fit and ready to go out again, thinking so positively.”

She captioned her post: ‘So I got the MRI scan results I didn’t want to see, and I’ll have to go back for another back surgery to try and fix it! I’m really bummed that it didn’t work the first time, but to be honest my back is a bit confused!’

She then thanked the fans for their support, writing, “Thank you for all your love and support that you continue to give me! And don’t forget it’s almost Halloween @ that only means one thing!! Stream ‘Thriller’! I love you all very much.’
