JLS star JB Gill addresses Strictly Come Dancing curse with his wife Chloe and insists he will not be ‘lipsing any girl’ in fun clip

JB Gill discussed the ‘curse’ of Strictly Come Dancing with his wife Chloe in a funny video this week, stressing that he ‘will not pick up any girls’.

The 37-year-old JLS star, who tied the knot with dancer Chloe, 34, in January 2014, was announced as part of the 2024 line-up this month.

Strictly has long been known for the ‘curse’ that befalls some contestants when they start dating their partners, even though some of them are already in relationships.

JB joked about the infamous drama that followed the BBC show by lip-syncing a clip of Love Island’s Chris Hughes and Kem Cetinay with his wife.

Referring to the lyrics of Skepta and Jme’s That’s Not Me, the singer said: ‘Are you acting like a garbage man? That’s not me. Sex with a girl? No, that’s not me. Lips with a girl? No, that’s not me.’

The hilarious caption on the update read: “When your wife asks you about the Strictly curse and it’s not you.”

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline about his upcoming appearance, JB said he and Chloe ‘communicate exceptionally well’ and stressed that his time on the show ‘won’t change that in the slightest’.

He explained: ‘We communicate incredibly well and we’ve always said that’s one of the keys to a very successful and strong relationship, let alone a marriage. For us, this isn’t going to change that at all.

Fans believe the infamous ‘Strictly curse’ is finally over this year after bosses announced they would be introducing chaperones who would be present at all times while the couples practice their routines.

JB, who has son Ace, nine, and daughter Chiara, five, with Chloe, added: ‘Honestly, I’ve probably got the best wife you could ever ask for in a contestant on this show because she comes from that world.

‘And even though she wasn’t a ballroom dancer, we both understand what it takes. We know it’s not easy and it’s going to be hard. She gets it, she’s been on tour herself.

“She’s obviously had to work with other people, that’s just part of the world. So she’s very excited for me.

“Chloe can’t wait to give her advice, which I’m also very grateful for. I can use her advice and I can also think along about little things that I wouldn’t know myself because I’m not a trained dancer. I can listen to her and work together with my professional.”

Adam Peaty also split with his partner Eiri Munro after appearing on Strictly in 2021.

Seann Walsh also broke up with girlfriend Rebecca Humphries after he was photographed kissing his dance partner Katya Jones in 2018. She was married to fellow dancer Neil at the time, but they split the following year.
