JK Rowling sparks another Twitter spat with Mother’s Day post wishing a ‘Happy Birthing Parent Day’ to ‘all whose large gametes were fertilised’

JK Rowling has sparked another Twitter row with a Mother’s Day post wishing her followers ‘Happy Birthing Parent Day’.

The Harry Potter author tweeted today: “Happy Birth Parents Day to everyone whose large gametes were fertilized, resulting in little people whose gender was assigned by doctors who usually made lucky guesses.”

The row comes after Rowling was reported to police earlier this week over allegations she misgendered transgender India Willoughby.

Now the sarcastic Mother’s Day post has caused a new furor on social media, with users accusing the Harry Potter author of sowing division.

Announcer Narinder Kaur responded, “Of all the ways Rowling could have used her star status to make a difference in the world, she chose to single out a minuscule percentage of an already highly demonized group of people.” Such a pity.’

Rowling’s Mother’s Day post on X today

The Harry Potter author posted a second tweet after the fuss and did not give up

Another user, Ian Timbrell, said: ‘It breaks my heart to see her descent into trolling and unnecessary attacks.

“She could have wished all mothers a Happy Mother’s Day, but instead decided to deliberately cause hurt and pain. History will not look kindly on it.’

A third person added: ‘Happy Mother’s Day to me, a cis woman who has given birth and is not threatened by others who have given birth, and who chooses to identify as a birthing parent because this is not any part of pregnancy , childbirth or motherhood.’

Rowling didn’t back down, however, and instead posted a second tweet saying: ‘Devastated and dismayed that my embrace of inclusive language has angered the most enthusiastic of devotees, so let’s just say: Happy Mother’s Day to all the women who have raised children. ‘

The 58-year-old was particularly active on X last week as she feuded with Willoughby.

Willoughby claimed Rowling had called her a “man” in a series of social media posts.

In a thread discussing whether trans women should be allowed into women’s locker rooms, Rowling said: ‘India has not become womanized. India is cosplaying a misogynistic male fantasy of what a woman is.”

Willoughby, Britain’s first trans newsreader, claimed the best-selling author had ‘absolutely committed a crime’ under the 2010 Equality Act.

However, Rowling said there was no law forcing her to consider Willoughby a woman.

Speaking to Byline TV, Willoughby said: ‘JK Rowling has absolutely committed a crime.

‘Before the law I am a woman. She knows I’m a woman and she calls me a man. It is a protected characteristic.

‘And that is contrary to both the Equality Act and the Gender Recognition Act. She tweeted that to 14 million followers.”

Willoughby added: “Well, I went to the police and reported it as a problem. I have contacted Northumbria Police.

India’s 58-year-old broadcaster has accused JK Rowling of ‘misgendering’ in a series of social media posts

On March 9, it emerged that the complaint against Rowling had been dismissed and that no police action would be taken against her

‘I reported JK Rowling to the police because of what she said.

“I don’t know if this will be treated as a hate crime, malicious communication, but as far as I’m concerned it’s a simple offence.

“And at the end of the day, it’s a hate crime. Transgender identity is a protected characteristic, just as race is, just as sexuality is.

‘And the equivalent of what JK Rowling said, deliberately calling a trans person a man… I am legally recognized as a woman and for JK Rowling to deliberately, and that’s the key word, misgender me knowing who I am is rude insulting. .

“It is a hate crime and should be treated the same as someone calling a black person the N-word or an Asian person the P-word.”

However, on March 9, it emerged that the complaint against Rowling had been dismissed and that no police action would be taken against her.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: ‘While we appreciate this may have caused concern, the post was assessed and did not meet the criminal justice threshold.’
