Jindal Stainless supplies steel for Kolkata’s underwater metro project

Jindal Stainless Ltd on Sunday said it has supplied 75 tonnes of high-strength steel for the Esplanade-Howrah Maidan section of Kolkata Metro, which runs under the Hooghly River in West Bengal.

The underwater metro project was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this month.

Jindal Stainless said in a statement that it is supplying premium ‘SS 301LN’ stainless steel for coaches and infrastructure of the project, which is part of the East-West Metro Corridor connecting Howrah Maidan to Salt Lake Sector V.

SS 301 N is a corrosion-resistant grade that does not require regular repair and maintenance and is the most cost-effective solution based on life cycle costs, JSL said, supplying 75 tons of steel.
