Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has claimed that one Chelsea player will be worth £150 million in the near future.

The Blues continued their good start to the season on Saturday with a 4-2 win over Brighton thanks to four goals from Cole Palmer.

The latest win at Stamford Bridge has lifted Chelsea to fourth in the table after four wins from six games.

Nicholas Jackson was unable to add to his tally of four goals in the Premier League so far, but he did manage to register an assist.

And Hasselbaink believes the Senegal international is on track to become a ‘top, top striker’, as he compared him to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

“I like Nicolas Jackson a lot,” Hasselbaink said Genting Casino.

‘Not just because he plays for Chelsea, but because he causes so many problems for the defenders.

‘Last season he scored fourteen goals in the Premier League. That’s not a bad return in your first season in the Premier League. A lot of the goals he scored were in 3-0, 4-0 games, so the challenge for him is to score goals when your team really needs you – be the difference maker – and that’s what he’s starting to do with this. season.

‘That is when a striker really earns his money, the matches where the pressure is on your shoulders to win the match with your team. I want to see every week if he can handle that pressure.

‘He is progressing very well. I think he is making good progress in his development as a top striker.’

The former Chelsea striker added: ”Nicolas Jackson and Erling Haaland are of similar ages. The big difference is that Haaland has much more top-level experience in Champions League football. He has been playing at that level since he burst onto the scene as a Salzburg player and has remained there. Jackson didn’t do that.

“That’s what Jackson has to do to be considered one of the best strikers in the world. He must be decisive on the pitch and regularly score goals at the highest level of the game. It’s a big challenge for him, but he has the potential to get there.

‘If Jackson fulfills his potential he will be a £150million player. I am convinced of that.

‘He is a player who has the potential to do everything. He can play outside the box. He can play with the ball at his feet, which are things that Erling Haaland can’t really do.

“The one thing Jackson needs to understand is that when he gets involved in the build-up, that off-the-box play, sometimes he tries to do too many things. He doesn’t have to do that.

“Sometimes the best way to get behind is a simple one-two, give and go. That was the kind of goal he scored first against West Ham; grab the ball, play it back to the midfielder and go into space. If the midfielder can find him, he plays one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Jackson has the potential to become one of the best strikers in the world.”

Hasselbaink has challenged Jackson to become like Manchester City’s Erling Haaland

Hasselbaink’s comments came just days after Jackson scored a goal in Chelsea’s 3-0 win over West Ham last weekend.

The former Villarreal striker also scored in the Blues’ 6-2 win over Wolves and 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace.
