Jimmy Barnes shares health update as he returns home for Christmas after open heart surgery: ‘Scottish genes are tough’
Jimmy Barnes is home just in time for Christmas.
The legendary singer has left a Sydney hospital after open heart surgery and is resting comfortably in his own bed, where he will kick off the silly season.
An update posted to the 67-year-old's Instagram on Friday showed Jimmy was comfortable at home with his grandson nearby, but was still hooked up to an IV.
“Every test you can face under the sun. Bacterial pneumonia, back surgery, staph in his bloodstream, open heart surgery,” the update said.
'Now Jimmy is home, grateful and happy. Everyone who cheered him on helped our family get through it,” it continued.

“As for the entire medical team, doctors and nurses at SVPH, you are the best in the world. Scottish genes are tough.'
The singer was recently rushed to the emergency room after complications from bacterial pneumonia, but it appears he will make a full recovery.
Jimmy informed his followers earlier this month that he underwent open heart surgery after a bacterial infection spread to his heart.
After the procedure, the Scottish-born Australian took to Instagram to let his followers know that he is healthy, happy and likely to make a full recovery.

Late last month, Jimmy was forced to cancel his headlining performance at the Rock the Boat cruise festival in Noumea, New Caledonia, after being hospitalized with bacterial pneumonia.
He was subsequently forced to withdraw from his scheduled performance at By The C in Torquay on December 2 after his condition failed to improve.
Jimmy has booked a series of sold-out headlining gigs for January and February, including multiple shows at the Red Hot Summer Tour festival.
However, Jimmy later confirmed that his upcoming shows will likely be halted after doctors discovered his infection had spread.
