Jimmy Barnes kicked off the holiday season early on Saturday by announcing that he will be releasing his first-ever seasonal album Blue Christmas in November.
The Scottish-born rock icon, 66, said the album will feature uniquely Australian interpretations of a wide selection of seasonal classics.
“I love the Elvis song Blue Christmas, but the reason I named the record is because we’re not surrounded by snow in Australia, it’s normally blue sky and sea,” he said. The Daily Telegraph.

He said listeners can also expect unique Barnesy interpretations of many Christmas classics, including Let It Slow and Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree.
The Working Class Man hitmaker announced his upcoming album on Instagram by posting a cover photo of Barnes standing in front of a shiny blue sky and a blue Monaro car.
Before long, many of his 199,000 followers were congratulating his brilliant idea to release a unique Australian Christmas LP.

One fan excitedly wrote that they couldn’t wait to hear “an Aussie soul Christmas album,” while another said they were excited to hear his unique song interpretations.
Barnes fans will no doubt be thrilled with the singer’s good news after he endured a triple heartbreak earlier this year.
Jimmy said goodbye to his sister, his mother-in-law and a close friend in two weeks in May.
He said listeners can also expect unique Barnsey interpretations of many Christmas classics, including Let It Slow and Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree.
He lost Kusumphorn Visuthipol, the mother of his wife Jane, not long after the singer announced the death of his sister Linda Barnes on May 12.
On May 30, Jimmy said goodbye to the executive director of the record industry and close friend Warren Costello, longtime director of the Mushroom Group.
In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, the legendary rocker said he wanted to celebrate the lives of his lost loved ones as he embarked on his Soul Deep 30 anniversary tour in mid-May.
Jimmy and his wife Jane Mahoney married in 1981 and have four children – son, Jackie, and daughters, Mahalia, Eliza-Jane and Elly-May. He is also the father of jazz singer David Campbell.
