He continued, β€œYou know, one of the things is it was so special for what it was and what it is. And they call it lightning in a bottle for a reason, and you can bet it’s not.”

“It just felt like a perfect little coda at the end of that really beautiful experience,” he explained to the outlet.

β€œAll those actors, writers and crew of Young Sheldon are so precious. To go back and be in their space as a very welcome guest was… it was just really sweet.”

Back in May during a performance at The viewJim further reflected on playing Sheldon again, saying it was “insanely special.”

“When we first started talking about it, I was apprehensive about it because I thought, ‘I’m not eager to put the clothes back on.'”

He added, β€œBut when they described what the story would look like and then went and did it… you know, we were a multi-camera show, it was a live audience like this, [but] this was very private and quiet, one camera.”

‘And it felt like it complemented the whole experience. It felt very… I don’t know, sacred is too strong a word, but to be with Mayim and do that was just very special.”

Jim said, “I didn’t realize I wanted to say goodbye to the character again in that way, but I did, and I’m so glad it happened.”

Development of the latest installment was first revealed in April 2023, with co-creator and executive producer Chuck Lorre attached.

Details were kept secret, as Lorre said TV line last November that the show had not yet been fully developed: “You only talk about childbirth in the second trimester, I think that’s the rule.”

“That’s a long way of saying no. I don’t have anything to say about it other than it’s something we’re talking about.”

Now it has been revealed that the show is moving forward, with Lauren Lapkus, Kevin Sussman and Brian Posehn confirmed they will be reprising their roles.

If the show does materialize, it will be the third spin-off from the original, and fans have expressed mixed reactions so far.

When someone heard about the update this week, someone asked X, “How many spinoffs does this show need?” Someone else predicted: ‘Oh wow. It’ll probably be terrible.’
