After being eliminated from the playoffs, Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh will undergo a number of medical procedures to address his health.
Per ESPN’s Kris RhimHarbaugh will undergo cardiac ablation and hip replacement surgery.
A cardiac ablation is a minimally invasive procedure intended to stop or prevent cardiac arrhythmias – or irregular heartbeats.
Earlier this season, Harbaugh had to leave his team’s Week 6 game against the Denver Broncos due to an atrial flutter — or an abnormality in the heart rate.
Harbaugh was treated by paramedics in the locker room and later returned to the sideline to coach the rest of the game.
He saw a cardiologist in October and was given medication, after which he was put on a heart monitor for two weeks.

Harbaugh had previously experienced episodes of cardiac arrhythmia and underwent a heart procedure in 2012 when he was head coach of the San Francisco 49ers.
As for the hip replacement, Harbaugh has been patrolling the sidelines lately with a noticeable limp, which he hopes to correct with surgery.
Harbaugh just completed his first season in the NFL since 2015, when he left the 49ers for his alma mater, the University of Michigan.
After a season of scandal that ended with Michigan winning the 2023 national championship, Harbaugh left for the Chargers in the winter of 2024.
In his first season back in professional football, Harbaugh took a Chargers team that went 5-12 the previous campaign to an 11-6 record and an AFC Wild Card berth.
The Chargers fell to the Houston Texans 32-12 on the road on a day when LA quarterback Justin Herbert threw four interceptions.
