In 2005, Rita suffered the tragic loss of her son Marty Fournier, 25 years old, in a traffic accident.
She chronicled her grief in the book Growing Up Carrey, which celebrated both her son’s life and her upbringing with her famous brother.
She wrote, “Looking back, I didn’t realize we were actually homeless. I thought we were camping. My parents had a fun time. That’s what life was like.” The book could be published next spring.’
