Jill Biden speaks at school called HUNTER HIGH as first son continues to battle gun charges after revelation that ‘cocaine residue was found on his firearm’s case’
- The First Lady was in West Valley City, Utah on Tuesday and visited a school ‘to celebrate teachers and emphasize the importance of teacher well-being’
- Her advisors were mocked for not realizing the significance of the school’s name: Hunter High
- Her visit came the same week as revelations that troubled 53-year-old Hunter Biden was found to have cocaine residue on his gun case in 2018.
Jill Biden’s advisers have been mocked on social media for arranging for her to speak at an event in Utah at a school called Hunter High.
The first lady visited West Valley City on Tuesday, where she met with high school students and spoke with teachers.
Biden himself still teaches at a university and has been a teacher for forty years. Since 2009, she has taught English and writing at Northern Virginia Community College, making her the first presidential spouse to have an independent career outside the White House.
Biden’s event was billed by the White House as an opportunity “to celebrate teachers and emphasize the importance of teacher well-being.”
But social media users were more interested in the name of the school: Hunter High.

Hunter Biden, now 53, has battled drug and alcohol addiction for decades
“You can’t make this up,” tweeted Andy Biggs, a Republican congressman representing Arizona.
‘Jill Biden speaks at a school called ‘Hunter High.’ Appropriate name!’
Her stepson, 53-year-old Hunter Biden, struggled with drug addiction for much of his adult life. He has been clean since 2019, when he married South African documentary filmmaker Melissa Cohen, but his past behavior is currently under scrutiny by Republicans.
He has denied pleading guilty to the charge accusing him of lying about his drug use in October 2018 on a form to purchase a gun that he kept for about 11 days. He has acknowledged that he was struggling with an addiction to crack cocaine during that period in 2018, but his lawyers have said he did not break the law.
On Tuesday, however, federal prosecutors revealed that investigators last year found cocaine residue in the bag where the president’s son held his gun.
Hunter Biden is scheduled to appear in Congress on January 10, making a surprise appearance at a House Oversight Committee hearing to discuss whether he should be prosecuted for contempt of court

Prosecutors said “the strength of the evidence against him is overwhelming” and pushed back against Hunter Biden’s claims that he is being singled out for political purposes.
The week before, he pleaded not guilty to federal tax charges filed after the collapse of a plea deal that could have spared him the spectacle of a criminal trial during the 2024 campaign.
The father of five has been charged with nine felonies and tax crimes. The charges stem from what federal prosecutors say was a four-year scheme to skip paying the $1.4 million he owed to the IRS and instead use the money to finance an extravagant lifestyle that , in his own words, also included drugs and alcohol.
“We are here today because you have been charged with a criminal offense by the United States,” Judge Mark Scarsi told Biden, who himself entered the not guilty plea.
During the half-hour hearing, the judge set a preliminary trial date of June 20.
The criminal proceedings also parallel so-far failed efforts by Republicans in Congress to link his business activities to his father.
Republicans are pursuing an impeachment inquiry into President Biden, alleging he was involved in an influence-peddling scheme with his son.
Hunter Biden defied a congressional subpoena to appear for closed-door testimony, insisting he wanted to testify publicly. He made a surprise appearance at a congressional hearing last week, as Republicans in the House of Representatives moved to file contempt of Congress charges.
So far, no evidence has emerged that Joe Biden, in his current or previous office, abused his role or accepted bribes, although questions have been raised about the ethics surrounding the Biden family’s international business dealings.
