Shooter Audrey Hale, 28, was killed by two Metro Nashville police officers at her former school Monday morning after taking the lives of three students and three staff members in 14 minutes.
He shot his way through the school’s glass side door before kicking it down and beginning his shooting rampage.
The school’s principal, Dr. Katherine Koonce, abruptly ended a Zoom call when she heard the shots. His body was found in the hallway and Chief Drake suggested that he had had a “confrontation” with Hale and tried to stop him from attacking the children.
Heartbreaking body cam footage shows cops passing a body in the hallway as they rushed to take down Hale as he reloaded his gun on the second floor of the building. He had fired out the window at approaching police vehicles.
Hale died at 10:27 a.m. thanks to the heroic actions of officers Michael Collazo and Rex Engelbert, who could be seen bravely crossing the school and running towards the gunfire.
