Angry Jetstar passengers stranded at Japanese airport overnight are given ‘muesli bars and blankets’ instead of hotel rooms
- Passengers outraged by the treatment of the Australian airline
- Blankets were handed out to stranded passengers at 4 a.m.
- One passenger said ‘you get what you pay for’
Passengers delayed for more than 24 hours on a flight from Japan to Australia have been left furious at Jetstar.
The flight was scheduled to take off from Osaka’s Kansai International Airport at 9:00 p.m. Tuesday night, however heavy snowfall caused the plane to be delayed.
But instead of being taken to a hotel for the freezing night, a traveler who paid for a $2,500 round-trip ticket to Sydney said they were given only a blanket and a muesli bar at 4 a.m.

Jetstar was not the only airline affected by the weather event, with more than 200 flights canceled at the airport.
‘My flight from Japan to Australia was delayed from 9:00 pm to 1:00 pm the next day. They gave us blankets and muesli bars instead of hotels,’ the passenger posted to Redditadding that ‘you get what you pay for’.
The 1:00 pm departure time came and went and the flight was rescheduled again for 4:45 pm local time.
That time also passed and the flight was scheduled to depart at 6:15 pm Osaka time for Cairns, but was once again rescheduled.
The Jetstar flight is now delayed until 10am tomorrow.
Among the more than 600 comments on the original post was one from another person waiting for the same flight.
“Hey I’m literally waiting for this exact same flight in Kansai too lol,” the passenger wrote.
“To add insult to injury, the blankets weren’t even from Jetstar, the airport gave them to us.
“These blankets were delivered literally at 4am and kept everyone completely in the dark about flight delays. No ads, nothing,” they said.

A Jetstar spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia the flight was delayed due to icy conditions in Osaka, which is 400 kilometers southwest of the capital Tokyo.
“Due to heavy snowfall, the bridge connecting mainland Osaka to Kansai International Airport was closed overnight, preventing our crew from accessing the airport,” they said.
“This caused a significant delay to our flight from Osaka to Cairns.
“Unfortunately, the closure of the bridge also meant that customers already at the airport were unable to exit, meaning they were unable to access hotels in the city.
“We know it would have been an uncomfortable night for our clients and we offered support by providing meals, water and blankets.”
The spokesperson added that “we always do our best to avoid delays, but severe weather like this is beyond our control.”
