Jetstar flight from Tokyo to Cairns diverts to Guam
A Jetstar flight carrying hundreds of passengers had to make an unexpected diversion after the plane’s windscreen was damaged.
Jetstar Flight JQ26 had to make a stop in Guam after leaving Tokyo on Wednesday.
The plane was en route to Cairns, Queensland, carrying 220 people after it was discovered that the plane’s windshield was damaged.
Frustrated passengers had to wait until a replacement flight was organized before they could continue their journey.
The flight arrived in Cairns at 5.40am on Thursday, about 24 hours after it was due to arrive.

An airline spokesperson confirmed the plane landed in Queensland after a replacement flight was organised.
“We have arranged hotel accommodations and meals for customers during the delay in Guam, and our captain and operations team have worked closely with local authorities to arrange customs clearance and support at the airport,” the spokesperson said.
‘Safety is always our first priority.’
Airplanes are designed to handle these types of problems, allowing the pilots to calmly change course to land and solve the problem.
The spokesperson said only the outer layer of the Boeing 787 was damaged.
