Jetstar announce three new overseas flights and huge sale on fares

Jetstar is expanding its network by introducing new routes to New Zealand. To celebrate the launch, discounted tickets are available.

From June 2025, the airline will offer direct flights from the Gold Coast to Hamilton and Dunedin in New Zealand.

The new timetable should run three times a week.

This is Jetstar’s first service to Hamilton, giving Australians access to popular North Island destinations including Hobbiton, Bay of Plenty and Rotorua.

The new route from Gold Coast to Dunedin also increases accessibility to the South Island’s second largest city.

Jetstar has also announced a new route to Hamilton, departing from Sydney.

Queensland Airports Limited CEO Amelia Evans said the new trans-Tasman routes offer Australians more choice.

“New Zealand is Australia’s largest international visitor market, so it makes sense for us to increase our Trans-Tasman connectivity. We are proud to be Australia’s most connected airport to New Zealand,” Evans said.

‘These services are expected to bring more than 115,000 passengers to the Gold Coast annually, connecting the city to Dunedin for the first time and reopening the airport’s first Tasman route to Hamilton.’

Queensland Tourism Minister Michael Healy said the airfare discount was a “win” for New Zealand travellers as it makes Australia more accessible to holidaymakers.

“What a win for New Zealand travellers who now have access to these new, affordable, regular flights, allowing them to visit Queensland and explore this great state without breaking their budget,” Mr Healy said.

‘The new services will make Gold Coast Airport Australia’s most connected airport to New Zealand, with more routes for visitors and students, and freight back across the Tasman.

‘Nearly half a million Kiwis crossed the Channel to visit Queensland in the year ending March 2024, setting a second straight record with $821 million spent overnight.’
