The New York Jets attempted to reunite Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams before the trade deadline on Tuesday but were rebuffed by the Las Vegas Raiders, according to ESPN.
The Jets looked to add a new dimension to their wide receiving department to boost the offense this season, showing a clear intent to still try to win this season with Zach Wilson as their quarterback after Rodgers’ Achilles injury that the season ended.
The Jets front office has long debated a move for Adams as they evaluated the option all summer, waiting for the right time to call Las Vegas about their investigation into the three-time All-Pro.
But the landscape has changed in Sin City since the Raiders lost to the Lions on Monday Night Football, with owner Mark Davis firing both former head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler later in the week.
A source even told ESPN that there was “no chance” the Raiders would move on from their six-time Pro Bowler, despite what appears to be a chaotic time for the franchise.

Now, Adams will prepare for his latest suitor in about a week, as the NFL declined to participate in the Nov. 12 prime-time Jets-Raiders game.
