Jets’ new receiver Mecole Hardman said potential Aaron Rodgers arrival was NOT reason he chose team

New Jets wide receiver Mecole Hardman says potential arrival of Aaron Rodgers was NOT the reason he picked Gang Green … as former boss praises teammates and coaching staff

Mecole Hardman signed with the Jets earlier this week, and the former Chiefs speedster has insisted that the possible arrival of Aaron Rodgers isn’t what drew him to New York.

Hardman joined on a one-year, $6.5 million deal, while former Green Bay wide receiver Allen Lazard signed a four-year, $44 million deal beforehand.

The main elephant in the room is Rodgers’ seemingly stalled deal with the Jets, but there were already other factors that led Hardman to the Jets.

“I probably still definitely would have signed here just given the coaching staff,” Hardman said via email. New York Post.

‘No one knows what’s going on with this [Rodgers] deal. They all know what I know, basically what we’re hearing. What did he do for my decision? Nothing, basically.

“They have a great base here, some nice pieces,” he added. Lazard’s signature, playing alongside him will also be great. [Garrett] Wilson had an absolutely amazing [rookie] year.

Mecole Hardman had a total of 2,088 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns for the Chiefs

“The news with A-Rod is something you can think about, but it was more about the Jets themselves being the right one for me.”

While Hardman appears pleased with his decision to join the Jets, it remains a question if and when Rodgers will be traded to New York.

Despite Rodgers proclaiming his desire to play for the Jets on the Pat McAfee Show, there has been no movement on a potential deal, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Wednesday.

“The two sides have been deadlocked in their talks,” Schefter said. ‘There’s been a run-in with Green Bay wanting more than the Jets are offering.

‘The Jets feel like they’re offering a lot. The Packers feel like they aren’t offering enough, and both sides are paralyzed.

There has reportedly been no movement between the New York Jets and Green Bay Packers when it comes to negotiating a trade for star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Schefter’s comments come after ProFootballTalk reported that Green Bay was having difficulties in negotiations and called for a “first-round pick and more” from the Jets for the 39-year-old.
