Jessie J reflects on her heartbreaking miscarriage as she reveals unreleased track about suffering the grief of baby loss: ‘We are allowed to be sad, angry, hurt, lost and broken’

Jessie J has shared a short snippet of a song she wrote two years ago when she discovered she had suffered a miscarriage.

The 35-year-old singer shared a video on Instagram on Tuesday in which she sang emotional lyrics about her raw feelings about the grief of losing her baby.

The mother-of-one welcomed her son Sky in May with her basketball player boyfriend Chanan Safir Colman after the heartbreak of her unborn child’s miscarriage.

She sang: ‘I can’t remember a day, I didn’t think of your face that my little heart couldn’t make, you slipped away. I know why you came, to light the way.

‘There’s no one to blame, you just slipped away. I wish I could have you back so I could talk to you.

Next to the ballot, she wrote: “Trigger Warning • Miscarriage/Loss.

‘I just found this demo of a song I wrote after my miscarriage almost two years ago called “Comes in Waves” and I felt the need to share it.

‘I’m always looking for the positive turn after all the sad things in my life. But in this moment, I remember just wanting and needing to sit in my grief and be there.

‘It’s important that we allow ourselves to feel what we need in moments in our lives that call for vulnerability. We are allowed to be sad, angry, hurt, lost and broken.

Some wrote: ‘Please let it go… you have no idea how many people you are helping by teaching them through art to acknowledge their pain and not sweep it under the carpet.’

“Please let this go. It’s not a happy song, it’s not a hit song, but it’s definitely a song that so many people need and that’s honestly what your music is all about.”

‘There is no one to blame’ cuts deep. I blamed myself every day. That my body can’t do what it was made for.
