Jessica Simpson says she was ‘happy’ and ‘laughed a lot’ as she spent her summer in Nashville working on new music

Jessica Simpson’s summer vacation helped her reset and make some decisions about her future.

The 43-year-old, who says she wants the public to stop scrutinizing her weight, revealed that she and her family enjoyed their vacation in Nashville, Tennessee.

It was a welcome relief for everyone to be in Music City with her husband, Eric Johnson, 43, and their children Maxwell, 11, Ace, 10, and Birdie, four.

“When I’m in Nashville, even my kids say, ‘You smile all the time.’ You are so happy,” she said E! News at a PetSafe event in honor of National Dog Day Saturday.

Jessica attended the festivities with Maxwell and their dog Penny.
