Jessica Simpson splits her time between Nashville and Los Angeles, but revealed that her family misses her deeply.
The Dukes of Hazzard star, 43, and her family moved to Nashville this summer so she could refocus on her career in music away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles.
But now that her children Maxwell Drew, 11, Ace Knute, 10, and Birdie Mae, four, are back at school, they are in Los Angeles with their father Eric Johnson, 44.
“I’m back and forth a lot, so now they know what it’s like to miss me and I feel very loved,” the Where You Are singer shared People at the 37th annual Footwear News Achievement Awards in New York City on Wednesday.
She continued, “They helped me find a house [in Nashville]we’ve all moved there, they’ve got their rooms picked out, that kind of thing, but they’re at school so I have two weeks [in Nashville]two weeks at home.’

And when she was asked why her husband of nine years wasn’t at the awards ceremony with her, she answered honestly and in a very relatable way.
‘He’s with the kids. I needed someone with the kids,” she explained.
Simpson and her family moved to Nashville over the summer, and even her children noticed a big difference in her mood and attitude once she got there.
“When I’m in Nashville, even my kids say, ‘You’re smiling all the time. You are so happy,” she said E! News.
Jessica explained, “It’s because I let my guard down. I’m with a lot of like-minded people. It’s not about the celebrities – it’s really about the music and the heart and the conversation.”
The family is renting a house in Nashville for the time being and according to the Employee of the Month star, it’s been a “hilarious” experience that’s a far cry from her glitzy life in LA.
“I used thumbtacks to hang these $40 curtains so I wouldn’t wake up with the sun,” she told the outlet.
‘I put together a TV with a butter knife. I was looking for a screwdriver, but I went to the wrong place. I went to Walgreens and got lip gloss instead.”

“I was too nervous to go back to other careers that are my passion until I felt like they were confident enough in school and in life before I would step foot on stage,” she said People in August.
“It’s crazy to feel the responsibility as a parent, but I really watch them and they teach me so much. They teach me to be brave,” she added, saying her three children are “very excited” for her.
“They know I’m living my dream and that’s what I was born to do,” she continued. ‘And to let them experience that with me will be really nice.’
