Jessica Simpson has put a lot of time and miles into working on her first new studio album in 14 years.
But the 43-year-old singer enjoyed a rare moment of quiet this weekend with the youngest of her three children: daughter Birdie Mae, five.
Jessica, who shares her children with husband and former NFL star Eric Johnson, posted a sweet selfie with Birdie to her Instagram on Saturday.
For the photo, the mother-daughter duo leaned in close, with Jessica playfully sticking her tongue out at the camera and Birdie laughing.
“Me and my birdie, my birdie and me…” Jessica raved in the caption of her post.
As she continues to work on her new album, Jessica Simpson enjoyed some rare downtime on Saturday with the youngest of her three children: daughter Birdie Mae, 5.
Jessica and Birdie looked cozy in Saturday’s selfie, which saw them lounging on the couch at home.
Simpson wore no makeup and her bright blonde hair was loose. She appeared to be wearing a red flannel pajama top.
Meanwhile, Birdie, who had just finished nursery school, wore a set of white and red thermal underwear with a heart motif.
Jessica previously talked about the frequent trips she makes between her home in Los Angeles and a music studio in Nashville to work on her album.
“I travel back and forth a lot, so now they know what it’s like to miss me and I feel very loved,” said the co-founder of The Jessica Simpson Collection.
‘They helped me find a house [in Nashville]we all moved there, they picked their rooms, stuff like that, but they’re in school so I have two weeks [in Nashville]two weeks at home.’
Together with Birdie, Simpson and Johnson are the proud parents of a daughter Maxwell, 12, and a son Ace, 11.
Simpson said her plan was to ensure her three children had a good start and were “confident enough in school and in life” before turning her attention to her other passions, music or acting.

During an interview late last year, The Dukes Of Hazzard star revealed that she plans to release her next album in early 2024, followed by a tour to promote her new music.
That plan to release her album earlier this year has since been scrapped, so fans will have to wait and see when she makes her big comeback to the music world.
Born in Abilene, Texas, the singer performed in church choirs as a child and landed a recording contract at age 17, resulting in her debut album Sweet Kisses (1999), which reached number 25 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and sold over two million copies.
For her second album, Irresistible (2001), she aimed for a more mature image, which led to her releasing five more albums until her second Christmas song collection, Happy Christmas (2010).
In total, Jessica Simpson has sold over 20 million albums during her career.
Simpson and Johnson got together in May 2010 when a mutual friend invited Johnson to a party at her house. The singer, actress and entrepreneur said they “connected on every level,” according to People.

At the time, Johnson was still legally married to his then-estranged wife Keri Johnson, though they had been living apart for about nine months and were in the midst of divorce proceedings.
After publicly confessing her “love” for Johnson, he and his ex-wife, stylist Keri Johnson, finalized their divorce.
Simpson and Johnson, who tied the knot in July 2014, celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary six weeks earlier.
