The pair first met in Mauboy’s home town of Darwin, at a nightclub, when she was just 18, through a game of ‘truth or dare’.

“Whatever love means to you, this is that song,” she told The Daily Telegraph of the cheerful song.

“It captures that butterfly feeling from the moment I literally first saw it.”

“It’s strange when you come from a small town and you’re supposed to know everyone, but I’ve never met him. I had that moment of, “Where have you been? Who are you? You’re out of this world.”‘

Speaking to The Sunday Project last year about their first meeting, the singer also recalled the awkward encounter.

“I was out with my eight friends and we happened to be playing this game of ‘trut or dare’ and I happened to say ‘dare,'” she explained.

Jessica didn’t reveal exactly what the challenge was, but said she saw Themeli shortly afterwards and revealed that she immediately walked over to him.

The couple maintained a long-distance relationship for seven years, while Themeli lived in the Northern Territory and Jessica lived in Sydney at the start of her career.

Jessica confirmed her engagement to Themeli in October 2019, and they later got married in July 2022.

“The love of my life proposed to me in his family’s hometown of Kalymnos, Greece, on the beach at sunset,” she wrote on Instagram at the time.
