Jessica Chastain is being compared to Jennifer Lawrence, after briefly tripping over her dress on her way to accept a SAG Award for Best Actress in a Television Movie or Miniseries.
After her nasty fall down the stairs, the 45-year-old actress was given a helping hand by Irish actor Paul Mescal and a man in the front row, who rushed to her aid.
The Oscar winner made a quick recovery as she quickly got up and delivered an emotional speech honoring the late Philip Seymour Hoffman.
During her speech, the mother of two, who won the same award at last year’s ceremony, was honored for her role as Tammy Wynette in George and Tammy.
While accepting the trophy, the performer offered a motivational message to struggling and aspiring actors, saying: “I’m doing a show right now in New York, I’m doing A Doll’s House and every day after the show I get to meet people in the stage door and I meet many actors, who tell me their stories and it reminds me of when I was in university.’
“Philip Seymour Hoffman came to speak to my class and told us all his frustrating stories about auditions and encouraged us to keep going even when we thought no one was watching,” he continued. And he said at the end of the talk, ‘I look forward to working with each one of you.’ It really struck me because it was like he created it. A few years later it came true and I had the opportunity to do a play with him.’
