Jessica Chastain stepped out in full costume after her morning performance of Henrik Ibsen’s play A Doll’s House in New York on Tuesday.

The 45-year-old actress, who drew praise for wearing a face mask when she attended the Oscars on March 12, wore a navy blue dress with short sleeves and a flared skirt.

She wore gray tights and black ankle boots for the stage performance.

The star’s long red hair was pulled back into a half ponytail and her stage makeup was muted with a strong red lip.

Jessica plays Nora Helmer in the reimagined story that centers on the lives of a group of middle-class Norwegians in 1879.

Nora is a wife and mother forced to question everything in her highly structured life.

The play opened on March 9, just days before she and Halle Berry were to present the Best Actress award at the Oscars.

In an interview with pbsthe Zero Dark Thirty star explained his approach to the character.

‘I tried to mark the ways that Nora was in control of the situation. So even if she’s playing the innocence, or the victim, or the helpless, she’s still a choice that she’s making,” Jessica maintained.

“And she’s still, in a significant way, the director and stage manager of the proceedings, even if she gets what she wants by playing sort of a traditional woman.”

The story is told without the use of props, except for chairs, which worried the actress at first.

Not sitting still, Jessica filmed three different projects before taking the stage.

A Mother’s Instinct, co-starring Anne Hathaway, will be released in September. The Division, co-starring Jake Gyllenhaal, and Memory, co-starring Peter Sarsgaard, will be released later this year.

A Doll’s House is scheduled to run at the Hudson Theater through June 10.
