Supermodels Jessica and Ashley Hart mourn the tragic loss of their mother Rae after a heartbreaking diagnosis of neurological disease
Jessica and Ashley Hart are mourning the tragic loss of their mother Rae after she passed away suddenly on Friday.
Rae Hart, 66, passed away from a rare degenerative neurological condition, ALS, which damaged the central nervous system and led to progressive muscle weakness.
The supermodel sisters moved to Melbourne indefinitely last year to help their mother with medical treatment, however since the diagnosis, Rae has suffered a rapid decline in her health.

Jessica’s two children and husband, James Kirkham, a former NASCAR driver, have also been living in Australia to support her and Rae.
Jessica, 36, and Ashley, 34, have referred to Rae as their rock multiple times throughout their career.
While the sisters rose to fame, their mother always supported them creating a strong bond between the three.

In 2015, Jessica and Ashley revealed to 60 Minutes that their mom had struggled with being a single mom and moving around a lot after struggling with a rocky marriage.
Despite the moves, the sisters always felt well cared for and even said that ‘she deserves a medal’.
According to Rae, the basics of getting through life were clean sheets, fresh food, a hot shower, and each other.

Jessica started modeling when she was 14 years old and became a global name with associations with Victoria’s Secret and Vogue.
She named her firstborn after her mother, Baby-Rae, and last year gave birth to a son named Glorious.
