Jesinta Franklin reveals she struggled with her body image in her early modeling days and was ‘very strict and restrictive’ about her diet: ‘I used to put a lot of pressure on myself’

Jesinta Franklin has revealed that she wasn’t always kind to herself in her early modeling days.

The 31-year-old, who often walked the catwalk for swimwear brands, says she once worried about her appearance.

“I probably used to have a lot of anxiety, which has lessened a lot now… I put a lot of pressure on myself,” she tells WebMD Stellar magazine this week.

‘I used to really watch what I ate before a shoot and I was very hard on myself, and restrictive’.

Jesinta further explained that she would rather quit the modeling industry than put herself through the same stress again.

“I think I’ve grown up. I really respect myself and I take better care of my body,” she explained.

“I used to be really hard on myself and I probably am [had] body image issues too, if I’m being totally honest.

And now I’m like, “Well, I’ll show up when I do”. And if I’m not good enough, I’d rather bow out of the industry than put pressure on myself to be something unhealthy,” Jesinta concluded.

During her second pregnancy in 2021, the former Miss Universe Australia described her struggles with body image and “self-love” after becoming a mother.

Speak against The Daily TelegraphJesinta, who is married to AFL star Lance “Buddy” Franklin, said it’s been a long journey “of self-love” and “learning to love my new body.”

“Your body goes through so many changes when you’re pregnant, I probably don’t feel as confident as I used to in a bathing suit,” she added.

The model revealed in her first pregnancy that she had gained 18 pounds, but said in an Instagram Q&A that it didn’t bother her.

“I worked too much, trained too hard, and didn’t eat enough because I was always on the go,” she said before she got pregnant.

“Since giving birth, I now look at my body in awe. I can’t believe I grew up and became a little human being, it’s really amazing and I’m so grateful,” added Jesinta.
