Jesinta Franklin writes heartwarming post about the Matildas as she praises the ‘incredible group of women’ and ‘power of sport’
Jesinta Franklin paid a heartwarming tribute to the Matildas on Thursday after their devastating 3-1 defeat to England in the Women’s World Cup semi-final.
The AFL WAG, 32, posted an image to Instagram of Sam Kerr scoring a goal against three defenders before writing a lengthy caption.
The former Miss Universe Australia praised the Tillies’ admirable fight for the World Cup and reminded her followers that winning isn’t everything in sport.
“The power of sport will always be greater than a trophy. The Matildas’ journey has been incredible,” she wrote.
‘Another poignant reminder that sport isn’t always about winning. In my opinion, sport has always been bigger than that, even if it is seen as the ultimate goal or sign of success.’

Jesinta is no stranger to the highs and lows of Australian sport as the wife of former AFL star Buddy Franklin.
The Sydney Swans player, 36, has just parted ways with his $10 million contract with the team to focus on raising his two children Tullulah, two, and Rocky, one, with Jesinta.
Their combined earnings allowed the Franklins to purchase a $9 million mansion on the Gold Coast, dubbed “Villa Casa” by Jesinta.
The house, which was on the market for just six days before the Franklins bought it, features seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and sweeping views of the city.
