Jerry Seinfeld announces Australian stand-up comedy tour as he returns Down Under for the first time in seven years

Comedy king Jerry Seinfeld heads to Australia for his first national stand-up tour since 2017.

The 69-year-old New Yorker will return Down Under in June next year, performing a series of shows in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne.

Seinfeld’s last Australian tour was a sell-out success, with approximately 140,000 tickets sold nationwide.

“I have loved Australia since my first tour there in 1998, and I can’t wait to come back to visit some of the biggest comedy fans in the world,” Seinfeld said in an official statement.

Paul Dainty AO, owner of travel agency Teg Dainty, expressed his excitement about Seinfeld’s long-awaited return, saying, “We are thrilled that Jerry Seinfeld is returning to our shores.”

‘He is without a doubt the most renowned and talented stand-up comedian in the world. This tour offers Australians the opportunity to witness his mastery of his craft.”

Seinfeld’s previous visit Down Under was accompanied by some playful comments from the comedian, who poked fun at Australian cities on stage.

During his performance in Sydney, the prankster reportedly told the audience: “We’ve been here a whole week, we’ve had a great time, but I’ll be honest, at this point I have to get out of here.”

He also joked about the sold-out venue: the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney Olympic Park.

“I’ve always wanted to play at Qudos Bank Arena,” he told the crowd.

“It’s one of those things you think about when you start in show business: Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Centre, but what about the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney – do you think I’ll ever get there?”

The actor also teased Adelaide during his stand-up show in the South Australian capital.

“Oh my God, Adelaide! Do you know how many years I’ve wanted to come to Adelaide? Never. I never wanted to come to Adelaide,” Jerry told his sold-out crowd, before adding: “And yet I love being here.”
