Jerry Jones has a reputation for spreading the love – more specifically the money – in Big D… maybe even too much. Some point to Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott and others.
However, Zack Martin has already taken enough from Jones. That is, he won’t get an upgraded deal from the Boys’ jack-of-all-trades.
Martin is currently holding out and as such has not been part of Dallas’ training camp in Oxnard, California.
Although Jones just replaced star cornerback Trevon Diggs, there are 11 reasons why Martin isn’t getting the same treatment.
“It’s not about precedents. It’s about facts,” Jones told reporters on Saturday. “We need the money to pay (Micah) Parsons.

“We need the money to pay the players we have to pay in the future. It is a fact. It’s not even a philosophy. It’s just a fact.’
Martin, who has two years left on his six-year, $84 million deal, is the eighth highest-paid guard in the league — on an annual average.
Meanwhile, Parsons — a first-team All-Pro in both years of his career — will be eligible for a new deal once the 2023 season concludes.
“Those dollars are there and we have this at this level, and if you were to redo all the contracts, you could never put together a roster,” Jones reiterated.
There is no indication if or when Martin will stop his steadfastness at some point. Unsurprisingly, Jones is calm on the matter.
“He comes to camp when he comes to camp. There is no solution. If he doesn’t, it will have many consequences.
“He’s been on top of the money all along, been high on the list and got a lot of money, got a lot of money over the years. It’s just hard to get everything. The bottom line is that nothing needs to happen.’
Martin, 32, was the 16th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. He is an eight-time All-Pro (six-time first-team).
